“I applaud the governor’s decision to finally enact a state of emergency for the communities affected by the horrific flooding along the Lake Ontario shoreline. National Guard deployments, sandbags and a rapid response team may prevent further flooding damage, but we need to get to the root of the cause and petition the International Joint Commission (IJC) to release more water through the Moses-Saunders Dam in order to lower lake levels. I am hopeful that Gov. Cuomo can accomplish this task and my office is available as always to help residents as much as possible.
