Assemblyman Otis to Address NYSACC 2021 Conference on the Environment

Assemblyman Steve Otis (AD-91) will participate in this year’s New York State Association of Conservation Commissions (NYSACC) annual Conference on the Environment themed “Climate Resilience through Community Action.” This year's conference will be held virtually from October 21st to 23rd and is aimed at providing municipal conservation commissions, advisory boards, sustainability committees and community activists from around New York State an opportunity to learn from environmental experts and network with other local environmental leaders.

Workshops and roundtable discussions will be grouped into four topics main topics: Greening, Environmental Justice, Land & Water and Waste Not. Attendance is free and the conference schedule is available here: VCOE Schedule.

Assemblyman Otis will be one of the conference’s keynote speakers and will be making the opening presentation on the Friday morning session. Otis will also be a panelist on the conference’s legislative roundtable which kicks off on Thursday evening. He will be joined on the legislative roundtable with Assembly Environmental Conservation Committee Chair Steve Englebright, Assemblywoman Anna Kelles, State Senator Pete Harckham and Ashley Dougherty of the Senate Environmental Committee staff.

Otis was Chair of the City of Rye Conservation Commission in the 1990s and has remained on the NYSACC Board of Directors since that time. He serves on the Assembly Environmental Conservation Committee and chairs the committee on Science and Technology. He has attended many of the traditional in person NYSACC conferences across the state over the years.
