Woodside, NY – New York State Assemblymember Steven Raga hosted a financial literacy workshop with NYU Federal Credit Union on Tuesday, August 11, providing young people and community members with practical information and tools to help them make informed financial decisions and build a stronger financial future.

The event, held at Assemblymember Raga’s district office in Woodside, brought together approximately 20 attendees for a discussion on budgeting, saving, building and maintaining good credit, managing debt and everyday expenses, and understanding responsible credit card use. Representatives from NYU Federal Credit Union also answered questions from participants about navigating financial decisions and avoiding common pitfalls that can lead to long-term debt.

“Understanding how to budget, save, build credit and manage debt are skills that can have an impact throughout a person’s life, but too many young people enter adulthood without ever having had the opportunity to learn them,” said Assemblymember Steven Raga. “Giving our young people practical tools to make informed decisions about their money is an investment in their future and in the financial well-being of our families. I’m grateful to NYU Federal Credit Union for partnering with our office to bring these resources directly to our community.”

The workshop featured Ness and Julia Boldin of NYU Federal Credit Union. Participants engaged with the presenters throughout the program, asking questions about credit scores, credit card debt, managing everyday expenses, and other financial decisions that young adults encounter as they begin building their financial lives.

Approximately 20 constituents attended the workshop. The event was part of Assemblymember Raga’s office’s ongoing work to connect residents with practical resources and information that support the financial well-being of individuals and families throughout the district.
