Statement by Assemblymember Steven Raga on the Devastating Floods in Nepal and Tibet

We are heartbroken by the devastating floods that have struck Nepal and Tibet, taking lives, leaving many missing, and destroying homes and critical infrastructure. My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones, those waiting for news, and all those facing the difficult work of rescue and recovery.

In Assembly District 30, I am proud to represent vibrant and growing Nepali and Tibetan communities. Both have enriched our neighborhoods with their culture, resilience, and countless contributions, and the impact of this tragedy is deeply felt here in Queens by families with deep ties to their homelands.

We stand in solidarity with the people of Nepal and Tibet, and I urge the international community to provide the humanitarian assistance and disaster relief urgently needed.

For our Nepali and Tibetan neighbors affected by this disaster or concerned about loved ones abroad, my office stands ready to help, along with our community partners, to connect constituents with available resources and assistance.
