Assemblyman Colton Proudly Announces that He Was Able to Provide a $250,000 Assembly Legislative Grant to the Federation of Italian American Organizations of Brooklyn

Assemblyman William Colton (D – Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, and Dyker Heights) is happy that he was able to provide a $250,000 Assembly Legislative Grant to the Federation of Italian American Organizations of Brooklyn (FIAO).

“The Federation of Italian American Organizations of Brooklyn, Inc. (FIAO) is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization which is located at 8711 18 Avenue in Brooklyn and has been dedicated to service and assisting families with children in need in Brooklyn’s immigrant communities. The Federation has built Il Centro, a state opportunity for all in our multi-cultural community. Il Centro is a multi-level 50,000-square-foot facility outfitted with modern, state-of-the-art equipment and technology,” Colton stated.

“In 2014 the Federation opened Il Centro, a state-of-the-art facility, to provide an opportunity for all in our multi-cultural community. FIAO has assisted tens of thousands of Brooklyn’s residents and provides support services to help families become more stable. Il Centro has the ability and programs to serve the community and preserve Italian culture and heritage for all residents and visitors of New York City,” Colton continued.

“This summer I was invited to the FIAO Senior Prom for seniors meeting at Il Centro, the first Italian American Community Center in Brooklyn. Il Centro needs many more resources to ensure success. That is why I am proud to announce that I have been able to provide an Assembly Legislative Grant in the amount of $250,000 to allow FIAO to start building a kitchen to provide these seniors and others at Il Centro with hot meals,” Colton added.
