Assemblyman Colton, Councilmember Zhuang Mark Holocaust Survivor’s 100th Birthday
Assemblyman William Colton (D—Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Dyker Heights) and City Councilmember Susan Zhuang (D—Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, Gravesend, Dyker Heights, Boro Park and Sunset Park) were on hand on Friday, September 27, at the Marks JCH of Bensonhurst to join in the festivities marking a very special centennial.
The two paid tribute to Holocaust survivor Vladimir Sats, who is also a World War II veteran, whose 100th birthday was celebrated by the Holocaust Survivors Center at the JCH during its Rosh Hashanah party.
“I was privileged to join in the festivities marking Mr. Sats’s 100th birthday,” said Assemblyman Colton. “This is such an important milestone, made even more significant because of the unimaginable difficulties he endured as a young man. Mr. Sats truly embodies the strength of the human spirit, and I am honored to have been a part of this important occasion.”
“It is very meaningful to mark any person’s 100th birthday,” said Councilmember Zhuang. “It is always a landmark occasion, even more so when that person has come through so much, as Mr. Sats has. He is truly a community treasure.”
