Budget Highlights

The Office of the Inspector General is responsible for investigating instances of fraud, abuse, criminal activity, and corruption in State agencies and certain public authorities. The agency is included in the Public Protection and General Government appropriation bill.

State Operations

The Executive recommends an All Funds appropriation in the amount of $5,885,000 reflecting a $25,000 reduction from State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2003-04. The State Operations General Fund appropriation of $4,147,000 reflects a $153,000 or 3.6 percent reduction from SFY 2003-04. This net decrease in funding reflects an increase of $148,000 in personal service due to salary adjustments, a $15,000 increase in nonpersonal service, a $205,000 decrease associated with the elimination of 3 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) positions through attrition and a $112,000 reduction in nonpersonal service costs including reductions in the number of office vehicles.

The Executive also recommends $1,738,000 in Special Revenue-Other funding. This amount reflects an increase of $128,000 or 7.95 percent from SFY 2003-04. The net increase reflects a reduction of $6,000 associated with personal service salary adjustments, a $54,000 increase associated with fringe benefit and indirect costs, and an $80,000 increase associated with the office’s seized assets operations.
