March is Women’s History Month, and Assemblyman Al Stirpe (D-Cicero) announced that this year he will be hosting his first annual “Women of Distinction” awards ceremony in celebration of remarkable local women. He is currently accepting nominations of women who have made a difference within the local community.

“It seems like everyday I meet another outstanding woman who is helping to make our communities are better place to live,” Assemblyman Stirpe said. “These women often leave a lasting impression on so many of us, especially on our children and senior citizens and I feel it is time that they get recognized for everything they do.”

Women may be nominated for outstanding work in the field of education, public service, community service, business, etc. Nominations must include a biography of a minimum of 250 words, and must be received by the close of business on March 15th. Those who wish to nominate a “Woman of Distinction” may visit the “Important Links” section on the Assemblyman’s Assembly website or tinyurl.com/womenofdistinction2013, or by calling Assemblyman Stirpe’s office at 452-1115 to obtain a form.

The ceremony will take place on Sat., March 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at the Matilda Joslyn Gage House, located at 210 East Genesee St. in Fayetteville. Nominations will be accepted to honor women who reside within the 127th Assembly District which includes the towns of Clay, Cicero, Manlius, Fabius, Tully and Pompey.
