Assemblyman Stirpe Joins Education Advocates for “Moral Monday” Gathering in Albany
“A strong commitment to education means that our schools and children are given every opportunity to succeed. This Monday, I stood with parents, students and advocates to voice my support for an increase in state funding to ensure our students have the resources needed to prepare them for the careers of the future.
“I’ve also heard the concerns of many parents and teachers on how the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA) unfairly burdens our schools, and I couldn’t agree more with them. I will continue fighting for the complete elimination of the GEA because strong schools lead to strong students, and we want all of our youngest minds to succeed in the future.”
Participating advocates who emphasized the importance of education included the Alliance for Quality Education, Citizen Action, the NAACP of New York, and New York State United Teachers.
