Onondaga County Students Recognized by Assemblyman Al Stirpe in Albany
Assemblyman Al Stirpe (D-Onondaga County) was happy to congratulate and recognize in the New York State Assembly Chamber two students from Onondaga County – Alena Cerro and Greg Freitag – for being named to the All-New York Academic Team for Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for community colleges. The Assemblyman met with the Onondaga Community College (OCC) students at the statewide event in Albany and presented them with certificates in honor of their academic excellence and community service.
“I want to congratulate these two bright students and their families for their outstanding achievements. It’s inspiring to see young students so motivated and eager to reach their full potential,” stated Assemblyman Stirpe. “It was a pleasure to meet with Alena and Greg, who represent the future potential of our schools and community. I’ll continue fighting for a budget that provides all of our students with a sound, quality education.”
The USA Today Phi Theta Kappa All-New York Academic Team Recognition Ceremony was held at the New York State Museum. Assemblyman Stirpe joined other speakers at the event, including SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher, Dr. Rod A. Risley, Executive Director of Phi Theta Kappa and SUNY Community College Presidents.
