Assemblyman Stirpe to Hold Roundtable Series on Export Trade

Assemblyman Al Stirpe (D-Cicero) announced that he will be hosting a series of roundtables on export trade in New York State to discuss ways to improve state support for businesses working to take advantage of the increasingly global marketplace.

“These events are meant to engage local businesses and community leaders on ways to improve trade for businesses throughout the state,” said Assemblyman Stirpe. “It’s important that we learn what businesses specifically need to thrive, whether these businesses operated in the manufacturing, agriculture, or even the service industry. Having an open conversation is a good step towards that goal.”

As chair of the Assembly’s Export Trade Subcommittee, Assemblyman Stirpe hopes to discuss the state resources available to businesses and how to access them, the barriers that may limit trade and solutions to make exporting products to markets and out of the state easier.

The first roundtable event will be held in Syracuse on Dec. 7. Additional events will be held in Rochester on Dec. 8 and Saratoga Springs on Dec. 15. These roundtables will be co-hosted by state representatives, including Assemblymembers Harry Bronson (D-Rochester), Bill Magnarelli (D- Syracuse) and Carrie Woerner (D-Round Lake). Officials from Empire State Development will also be on hand to discuss the Global NY initiative.

The discussions are a continuation of a similar series he held in 2013 in Buffalo, Newburgh, Ogdensburg and Syracuse.
