Assemblyman Stirpe: Poor Nursing Home Conditions Need to be Addressed
“When our loved ones enter a nursing home or assisted living facility, we must be able to trust that they’ll be given the best care possible and their safety and well-being is a priority. That’s why I’m so dismayed by continued reports that conditions at the Onondaga Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing are poor and unhealthy. I’ve heard the concerns of residents’ family members loud and clear, and have been working with the state Department of Health (DOH) to determine how to best address these issues. I have also reached out to the Onondaga Center and its parent company, Centers Health Care, to express my concern with reports of staff shortages and neglect.
“As DOH continues to investigate the situation, I’ll do everything I can to keep community members informed as well as ensure their concerns are heard. Nursing home residents’ well-being and safety should never be compromised.”
