“Central New York families should have peace of mind knowing that their kids are in good hands while they’re at work. But, unfortunately, quality, affordable child care can be next to impossible to find for many families, putting economic security even further out of reach. That’s why I fought for $500,000 in the 2018-19 state budget to help Onondaga County families pay for child care through the Child Care Facilitated Enrollment Program.

“The budget also restores over $1 million to SUNY Child Care Centers, allowing facilities like SUNY Upstate Child Care Center to continue serving as top-tier providers for local children and families. The funding will also help address compliance issues, including background checks, training programs and inspections to ensure the safest environment possible for kids. Supporting student-parents, educators and working parents across Central New York means parents won’t have to sacrifice their careers or education to know their kids are well cared for.”
