Assemblyman Stirpe: Diaper Drive Helps Local Families

Assemblyman Al Stirpe (D-Cicero) announced that he is partnering with CNY Diaper Bank for the third annual “Make a Mother’s Day” Diaper Drive and urges community members to join him in helping Central New York families in need.

“A clean, dry diaper is a basic step to keeping babies healthy and happy,” said Stirpe. “Yet for many families, the cost of diapers is impossible to keep up with. The CNY Diaper Bank is working to give parents in need one less worry and donations help them continue this great work.”

According to CNY Diaper Bank, diapers cost approximately $100 a month for a family with one baby. This cost is not covered by SNAP or WIC, making it difficult for struggling families to afford them, noted Stirpe. CNY Diaper Bank hopes to collect 100,000 diapers during this year’s diaper drive.

CNY Diaper Bank is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that all families who need diapers for their babies and toddlers are provided with them and to raising awareness about this need in our community.

Residents wishing to help during the Make a Mother’s Day Diaper Drive can donate diapers of any size, including open packages of unused diapers, during the month of May. Donations can be left at Stirpe’s office at 7293 Buckley Road, Suite 201 in N. Syracuse. Several other drop-off locations include: Fayetteville Free Library; Liverpool Public Library; any of the NOPL branches; and Manlius Library.
