Assemblyman Stirpe: Your Voice Matters as I Help Craft This Year’s State Budget

With this year’s legislative session underway, state budget negotiations aren’t far behind. The budget determines how New York invests taxpayer dollars back into our communities – from strengthening small businesses and local farms to funding our public libraries and more.

As your assemblyman, it’s been one of my top priorities to have honest conversations with Central New Yorkers about the things they want from our state government. My yearly state budget town halls are part of that ongoing effort to hear from folks in our neighborhoods so I can fight for the issues that matter to you. This February, I’m inviting you to come out, learn more about the process and weigh in on what’s important. I’ll look forward to answering your questions and hearing your ideas.

Last year’s state budget increased state aid for local schools by more than $8.5 million. The budget also included nearly $250 million to combat the devastating opioid epidemic.
