Albany, NY – On Thursday, May 6th, 2021, Assemblymembers Jo Anne Simon, Robert Carroll and Harvey Epstein, and Senators John Brooks, Robert Jackson, Zellnor Myrie, and Brad Hoylman will host the 6th Annual Dyslexia Awareness Day. Over 200 students with dyslexia, parents, educators, and advocates from across New York State will promote dyslexia education, and highlight the need for bills to end the school to prison pipeline, screen students for dyslexia, and provide better teacher training. 

Keynote speakers will be Jerry Pinkney, who is dyslexic and an award-winning illustrator of children's books and professor, and Gloria Jean Pinkney, an award-winning author, minister, documentarian and vocalist.
