Simpson: Disappointed Over Closure of Longtime Manufacturing Sites
Expresses apprehension over Essity closure
Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C-Horicon) said today that professional hygiene brand Essity is closing its tissue manufacturing sites in New York state. This includes locations in South Glens Falls, Greenwich and Saratoga Springs, affecting roughly 300 employees. Essity will continue manufacturing at facilities in Wisconsin, Kentucky, Ohio and Alabama but will not continue operations in New York.
“It brings me significant concern and remorse to hear of the closure of Essity’s manufacturing and distribution centers in the North Country. Essity has been a longtime employer that many working-class families have depended on for years. This is a sad day for many. It is also a reflection of the concerning trajectory of the state. It is critical that we ensure New York remains a business-friendly state,” Simpson said.
