Simpson Calls for Increased State Funding for Local Roads and Bridges

Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C-Lake George) led a press conference at the Warren County Public Works facility calling for increased state funding for local roads and bridges in the 2025-2026 state budget. Joined by state legislators and highway superintendents from across the region, Simpson emphasized the critical need to fully fund the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) to ensure safe, efficient and well-maintained roads for North Country residents.

“Every year we face an uphill battle to secure the necessary funding to keep our roads safe and reliable. It’s time for Albany to recognize that investing in local infrastructure will lead to the growth and development our state needs right now,” said Simpson. “Our highway departments do an incredible job with limited resources, but they need the state to step up and deliver the funding necessary. I will continue to fight to make sure our communities get the infrastructure investments they deserve.”
