A community center serves as the heartbeat of any town – fostering unity, delivering essential services, and creating a hub for residents to gather. Your support is crucial in turning this vision into a reality for Elmont. We've launched a petition to showcase the overwhelming demand and necessity for a community center in our town.

In 2018, Empire State Development (“ESD”) selected New York Arena Partners (“NYAP”) through a competitive Request for Proposals process to redevelop surplus formerly state-owned land adjacent to the Belmont Park thoroughbred horseracing facility in Elmont, New York. NYAP is a partnership between Oak View Group, the New York Islanders, and Sterling Project Development and was designated to lead the redevelopment of Belmont Park.

Due to our advocacy, as part of a community benefits agreement, NYAP was responsible for securing and building a facility of up to 10,000 square feet within the unincorporated Hamlet of Elmont to serve as a community center. The site would be leased to an operator at no cost for up to 10 years, with an option to extend.

Join me and other community leaders in pushing ESD and NYAP to take quick action for Elmont! Let's get that site set up and start building our community center!
