“The influence of social media on our children is a growing concern, particularly with algorithms designed to maximize addiction. The Child Data Protection Act and the SAFE For Kids Act mark significant progress in safeguarding our children by restricting the exploitation and sale of their online data and curtailing harmful algorithms. These laws implement necessary regulations to reduce the adverse impacts of social media on the mental health of our youth. I extend my gratitude to Governor Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James, Assemblywoman Nily Rozic, Senator Andrew Gounardes, and all the committed parents and advocates who helped achieve this milestone.
