Assemblywoman Solages Statement on National Grid Rate Increases Approved by Public Service Commission
Valley Stream, NY – In response to the New York State Public Service Commission approving rate increases for Long Island National Grid customers by $33 each month, New York State Assemblymember Michaelle C. Solages released the following statement:
"Today’s decision by the Public Service Commission (PSC) to approve a rate hike for National Grid is deeply concerning for Long Island families and businesses. With gas bills set to rise by $33 a month, this increase adds to the financial pressures many households already face.
While maintaining reliable infrastructure is important, we must prioritize the economic well-being of our communities. The proposed programs for low- and moderate-income customers are a step in the right direction, but we must ensure they are comprehensive and effectively targeted to those most in need. At the same time, it's crucial that we pursue affordable, sustainable solutions for a green energy transition. I remain committed to advocating for policies that ease this burden and support a cleaner, more affordable energy future for all Long Islanders."
