Assemblymember Solages Opposes MTA Fare Hike and Urges Public Pushback

“Affordability on Long Island is not just a tagline, but a mission statement for all elected leaders and state agencies. At a time when the federal government is deriving new ways to crunch the middle class and siphon their dollars, New York State must be clear that we will not add to the burden. I am deeply concerned about the MTA’s proposed rate hikes that will impact New York transit riders from the Metro North down to the LIRR.

The notion that, because the increases are gradual and measured, they will not impact riders ignores the reality that New Yorkers face. This proposed rate increase must be rejected, and I encourage all New Yorkers who are able and willing to make their concerns known to the MTA Board.”
