Community Fitness Day: Assemblywoman Solages Invites Residents to Participate
Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages to host event in support of fitness and healthy lifestyle
In an effort to advocate and bring awareness to fitness and healthy eating alternatives, New York State Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages will celebrate New York Women’s Health and Fitness Day by hosting a free Community Fitness Day on September 21, 2014. This will be an opportunity for friends and neighbors to come together and engage in exercise routines for persons of all fitness levels.
Women’s Health and Fitness Day, September 24, 2014, is commemorated annually by over 1,000 organizations in an effort to garner interest in the importance of daily physical activity. It is a way to encourage people of all ages to incorporate healthy living into their daily lives. Assemblywoman Solages welcomes men, women and children alike to participate in Community Fitness Day in the hopes of raising awareness for fitness and health for the entire community.
Community Fitness Day will consist of three separate activities to promote overall health. The first class offered is Yoga at 2:00pm. Yoga is a calming practice of simple meditation and breath control, and body posture, which is known for many health benefits including increased flexibility and strength and decreased chronic and joint pain. The second class is Spin at 3:00pm. Spin class is an indoor cycling workout known for burning calories and muscle toning. At 4:00pm a certified instructor will provide advice on ways to promote general wellness and health. The third class, and grand finale of the day, will be Zumba class at 5:00 pm. Zumba is an exhilarating aerobic workout that incorporates dance moves with traditional aerobic movements. “Zumba is a fun and energetic way to increase heart rate to maximize on burning calories. You need not be able to dance to enjoy the class. The fun is in trying.” said Assemblywoman Solages.
