A New Community Garden for the 22nd Assembly District
Solages asks residents to join the new 22nd AD Community Garden Coalition
Elmont, NY Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages, in partnership with the Cornell Cooperative Extension, is in the exploratory phase of creating a new community garden in the 22nd Assembly District. Community gardens provide many benefits to their neighborhoods, including beautiful green open space and a local source for fresh produce.
A 22nd AD Community Garden Coalition will be established to ensure input from residents. Coalition members will be involved in various aspects of establishing the community garden, including garden location, selection of plant varieties, volunteer opportunities, details of beautification design, and creating a sustainable produce garden for families in the district to explore and enjoy. Coalition members will be equipped with the appropriate tools to learn and enhance their gardening skills. Assemblywoman Solages invites all residents interested in being part of the 22nd AD Community Gardening Coalition to contact (516) 599-2972 or Click Here!
I am ecstatic to see this long-awaited initiative finally come to fruition. As a proponent of the local food movement, I cannot think of a better activity for our district to partake in than gardening. It is especially exciting to see residents getting involved though the newly minted gardening coalition, Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages stated. We are truly putting the choice in the hands of the people, and ensuring that this is a true grassroots initiative built from the foundation up,
